Parador was incredible as I stayed in a small town called ‘Santo Domingo de la Calzada.’  This small town located in the rolling hills of La Rioja is surrounded by vineyards and the hospitality brought to us by the locals is a memory that I will never forget.  Time stood still while exploring this little town off the beaten path with great little family restaurants and eateries, incredible local wineries to visit nearby but most of all, the spectacular views.  The Parador, ‘Santo Domingo’ is a combination of luxury and comfort in a restored monestary that still has many unique qualities.  The rooms are quite large with large poster beds but modernized with a touch of history.  The service offered by the staff was amazing and I loved the peacefulness of this location as it felt like I was in my own private hotel despite the fact that it was fully booked.  My stay was one that I didn’t want to leave.

My next visit to Spain will certainly include more Paradores.  These are the perfect locations for that once in a lifetime honeymoon or romatic getaway.

I’ve been to Cabo San Lucas once and I can’t wait to return to this beautiful paradise that offers a blend of Mexican hospitality, beautiful coastlines and magnificent white beaches. When to Book

It all depends on where you’re going and how many people are travelling with you and of course, your budget.  If you are looking to get married at the popular resorts in the Caribbean then you generally want to do some price shopping with tour operators.   They  generally don’t release their pricing for the upcoming Fall/Winter season until 6-9 months prior to departure.  This doesn’t mean that you can’t book your trip but tour operators will have competitive pricing when it comes to booking groups and the best way to get this pricing is through a travel advisor who specializes in Destination Weddings.  Booking your Destination Wedding  with a tour operator can save your guests a substantial amount of money instead of booking the hotel rooms and flights separately and on your own.  When using a travel advisor you can sometimes get extra amenities and special pricing along with the fact that you are always taken care before and during your trip.

If you are going somewhere exotic for your wedding such as the Maldives, French Polynesia, Africa or Australia, you can certainly book your wedding well in advance and again check with a travel advisor as they will provide you advice on visa’s, permits, ideal spots to get married, accommodation choices, travel advisories and of course local customs.

If you have no idea of where to go and you don’t know what it will cost you, check with a travel advisor first.  This will not only save you time but the aggravation of choosing a location that is completely out of your budget.  Generally when I meet face to face with my clients for a free consultation, I will have both the bride and groom complete a checklist of what style of vacation they are looking for to help me narrow down the long list of destinations to choose from.  From here I will look at their budget and put together a short list of options.

I develop for you a customized Destination Website at no cost that includes a customized web page to feature your wedding details that you can update and modify and include a personal message.  An online registration page is created where your guests can RSVP for your destination wedding and an email to your invitees with the destination wedding details and a link to the RSVP page.

If this isn’t enough, what about the gift of a ‘Travel Wedding Registry’?  If you’re looking for that dream Destination Wedding but can’t afford it, your guests, friends or family will have the opportunity to purchase a wedding gift for you from the gift of a travel gift registry to offset some of the costs to make your wedding even more magical.  A credit card transaction is authorized by your guest via a secure web page.
